here is Steve nearing the top of the Spearhead Col to gain the other side of the ridge and really enter the backcountry. What a beautiful day. Thats the Blackcomb glacier in the background, and if you look hard enough you can see skiers on the runs

just a little more uphill and we can start to get some fresh turns in, although the legs are starting to feel a little like jello right about now

with unreal endless views behind and all around us, its not like this every day on the coast

thats Decker Mnt in the background, and our packs in the foreground

thanks to Steve for pointing out where we will be in a couple hours, thats the top of Decker Mnt

this is a subpeak hill and we ended up getting great turns off of it. It looks so nice, just waiting for someone to ski it, and it was us, yippee

those are our tracks down, not bad

shade is now upon us as we start to head up Decker, it was all in the shade, which actually played against our vision on the way down, but oh well

I believe it took us about 45min to reach the top, there where a couple other parties out today which made us feel a little safer as I don't think we had taken our Avy course yet

a couple years after this trip I would come up here solo and camp on the left edge of the ridge in the photo, It was a great trip also, and some good skiing

why do I look so mad?

and with a beautiful sunset to boot
