I've wanted to climb Crown Mtn for a while and my partner bailed the night before so I opted to do the Hanes Valley to Crown Mtn, I turned out to be a long and rewarding day, which included the summit of course. Now I would like to go back and do Crown Mtn via the crater slabs-but that would most likely require another TBA partner

an old logging company that had its factory about 3-4km into the forest

some old relics from the years gone bye

finally something really worth taking a picture of. I was scared all morning that I might run into a bear, as it was early in the morning and nobody else was on the trail yet, so I had a 3" knife in my hand for the first 12km of the trail. I wonder if it would actually do me any good-oh well...

just a quick detour up to Norvan falls, and it was worth it...nice waterfall

someone had built quite a bridge for the river, it was low flow season at this time, but they built this bridge to last 100yrs

time to start heading into the valley. I am about 8km in

but then again there wouldn't be any chance of falling in

I ended up losing the big toe nail on my right foot. I don't normally wear these boots anymore, but I thought I had too many toenails and I was too lazy to cut them so this was an easier way

you can tell by the little helicopter picture

first look up at Crown Mtn. The path I took was up the col on the left. The crater slabs goes up through the couliour in the middle

the fun part is the smooth looking rock in the middle up high on the mountain

a cool looking fungus that I found growing on some log, it was really just an excuse to take a break

finally getting close to my goal, only another 2km

and they turn out to be a group of sexy grandma's, my lucky day

maybe I put it on for the grandma's, or the heat-but I'm not telling

and the top of the crater slabs tops out on the right

after summiting and starting over to Grouse Mtn they have many places where there are chains and ropes to help people up the wet and steep slopes
